Think Outside the Park- Have a Drink Instead

We all know how gorgeous Balboa Park is! It’s pretty amazing and I feel lucky to live so close, which allows me to walk my dog there or just swing by to check out the roses in bloom. But if you are thinking of having your engagement photos done there, you are not alone. Take a stroll through the park on any given weekend day and you will count at least at dozen professional photographers trying desperately to find a scenic corner of the park where they can avoid having other people in their photos. If you want photos in front of the iconic fountain or lily pad pond, you better be prepared to wait your turn and to embrace other humans in your shots.

So what can you do if you really want your engagement photos to be unique but still represent San Diego? What ‘s more “San Diego” right now than our local microbrew scene?

Meet Marissa and Bryan! They are getting married and they love beer. So finding a local brewery with a great vibe seemed like the perfect idea for their engagement photos. During a recent neighborhood wandering, my boyfriend and I stumbled onto Hess Brewing’s new tasting room location in North Park. Besides being a refreshing stop on our walk, I loved the warehouse look to the space and the walking bridge over their brewery equipment. I called them up and they were glad to lend us their space for these fun images!

If you and your fiance love beer, don’t hesitate to take advantage of the amazing microbrew community here in San Diego. Most locations will gladly allow photos and with more than 70 breweries in the area, you should have no problem finding one that fits your style!
