You’ve carefully chosen all your wedding details. The flowers, the dessert, the party activities. And maybe you have a few unique surprises for your guests. But have you included your wedding photographer in the the planning for your wild and creative whimsies? Here are a few examples of why you should.
This client had a stunner of a cake! But it wasn’t going to be brought out until mid-reception when their brewery venue would be dark and poorly lit for details. Sure I could have used a flash to light it up, but the cake photographed so much better in the natural light earlier in the day. So I was able to arrange with the planner and dessert artist to have it brought out earlier to photograph it during the pre-wedding festivities to get some shots of it in better light. The result is swoon-worthy detail shots of something the couple obviously loved selecting for their wedding day.
This couple planned a super fun reception exit on a scooter, but it was such a cool detail that it deserved more than some dark shots at the end of the night. So we arranged to have it available during their portrait hour so that we could get some truly great images of them with it.
This couple really wanted to include their beloved horses in their wedding portraits, but had just about written it off as not logistically possible with their planner. But she mentioned it to me in our timeline meeting and I told her we could make it happen! I was able to shuffle around some of the coverage between myself and my second shooter to allow for a 15 minute stop at their home for some portraits. And by having one of their family members already waiting there with the horses ready, everything went smoothly with no disruptions to the timeline.
