The Next Big Wedding Trend You Probably Haven’t Seen Yet

Live Wedding Art

I run a networking group for San Diego wedding professionals. I recently had the privilege to meet Taylor Gallegos at one of our showcase events and I was so excited about his art that I wanted to share it with all of you, even at the expense of my own photography business.

Taylor does “live wedding art”. He PAINTS your wedding. In case you haven’t let that sink in yet, let me explain to you why this is so amazing: When you hire me to take your photos, you will end up with some gorgeous images. You will probably order prints of a few of them, and hopefully some large canvases to display in your home. But after a few years of these lovely images hanging on your wall, you will probably take them down. You will replace them with photos of your kids and family. (P.S. – This is why you should invest in an album; you can look at it together every year on your anniversary.) But, a PAINTING of your wedding day is art that will always be beautiful and relevant and will always make you feel something about that special day in your lives.

Here’s how it works:

“Prior to the event, Taylor locates his vantage point, sets up his easel and begins the composition, capturing the light and the feel of the space.  As the guests arrive, the scene within the painting is already well underway.  While the ceremony takes place, Taylor begins rendering the wedding party and guests, depicting each personality. Moving on to the reception, he relocates for guest interaction and entertainment, while continuing to develop the painting.  At the end of the evening the piece is brought to Taylor’s studio, where his finishing touches will bring it to gallery quality.”

Now, there are three different levels of detail depending on how many of your family and guests you want to include and of course your budget. You can expect an investment of $1800-$3000. But you absolutely must think of this as an investment. Decades from now, it will be a valued possession and an heirloom.

The painting in the photograph was created during the aforementioned networking event. Though I love our events, they aren’t usually visually that interesting. But Taylor managed to make it look elegant and exciting and now I have this lovely image to hang in my office!
